Citizen Satisfaction Survey

Someone chatting on the phoneThe Town of Ponoka is gathering public input through a statistically valid Citizen Satisfaction Survey beginning August 31, 2022 and continuing throughout September.

A representative sample of Ponoka citizens will be contacted for this telephone survey to determine their views on topics, such as quality of life in the community, satisfaction levels with municipal services, and priorities that citizens would like Council to consider as it prepares to deliberate the 2023 Budget.

The Citizen Satisfaction Survey will be an important part of the Town’s public consultation process on the 2023 Budget.

It will be conducted by a professional research firm using a careful survey design process and methodology to achieve survey results that are statistically valid and accurately represent the views of the community as a whole.

This process includes randomly selecting citizens to participate in the survey.

Citizens who receive a phone call from the professional research firm, Advanis, with the caller ID ‘Town of Ponoka’ (depending on your phone settings) are encouraged to participate in the survey and provide their input to add their voice to the Town’s decision-making processes.

Because the survey is statistically representative, the Advanis phone interviewer may ask to speak to someone of a certain demographic in your home (for example a male over 18) in order to collect views that demographically represent our community as a whole.

You may get a phone call even if you live in Ponoka County or a neighbouring town because the survey uses random dialing. One of the first questions asked will be whether you live in the Town of Ponoka or own property in the Town of Ponoka. If you don't, please just let them know and they will politely end the call.

If you aren't selected to participate in the Citizen Satisfaction Survey, you can find out more ways to offer your input on the 2023 Town Budget at www.letstalkponoka.ca.

Past Citizen Satisfaction Survey Results

As part of its annual public consultation and planning process for the 2020 Town Budget, the Town of Ponoka gathered public input through a statistically representative Citizen Satisfaction Survey in September 2019.

In order for the survey to be statistically valid and represent the views of the community as a whole, it must randomly invite citizens to complete the survey.

For the 2019 survey, Ponoka citizens were randomly selected to participate. Citizen input gathered through the statistically valid survey was summarized and presented to Town Council for careful review and consideration as Council prepared to deliberate the annual Town Budget.

The Citizen Satisfaction Survey is an important document that Council and Administration use to align decision making with citizens’ interests.

Four hundred Ponoka residents, aged 18 and older, participated in the survey. Key results from the report are included in the photo to the right. Please click the photo to view it as a full-page document.
