Proposed Skateboard Park Expansion Design

The current conceptual plans could see the existing Hamilton Skate Park extended south to include the space currently occupied by the former Town of Ponoka recycling yard.

The sidewalk in front of the Hamilton Skate Park would also be extended south to connect with the pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Battle River and connects with the river valley trail system.

What’s Next?

The Town of Ponoka has completed the first round of public consultation on conceptual plans for a proposed expanded skateboard park.

The Town would like to thank citizens who have provided input to date. Their feedback will be used to create a more detailed conceptual design for the expanded skateboard park which will be brought back for a second round of public review and input this fall.

The new updated conceptual design will also be posted here once they have been created and are ready for public review and input. More details about when the second round of consultation will begin will be announced in the coming weeks.

Construction of the dog park will depend on future consideration and approval of the park designs, location and budget by Town Council.

The new expanded skateboard park aligns with Council’s strategic priorities of enhancing the quality of life for Ponoka citizens through improvements to recreational amenities. Planning and design development of the proposed expanded skateboard park are also based on recommendations in the Town of Ponoka’s Downtown Action Plan and Recreation Master Plan.
