Coun. Kevin Ferguson

I love Ponoka and I see potential everywhere. As a new member of Council, I support the Town’s ongoing commitment to maintain our assets and our infrastructure while building for our future. Our community’s future is bright!



  • Born in Saskatchewan
  • Moved to Ponoka as a young teenager when his father took the position of elevator agent with Pioneer Grain
  • Graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Education degree
  • Ironically, met his wife Heather in Ponoka; she is also originally from Saskatchewan. They have been married for 28 years and have resided in Ponoka throughout their marriage
  • Raised two sons, Mark and Ian.  Both boys live in Calgary. Mark just graduated from the University of Calgary. Ian graduated from SAIT
  • Recently retired after 30 years of teaching, and has now embarked on his new role as Town Councillor
  • Excited to be working for the Town and to begin his first term on Council by serving on the local and regional Library Boards, as well as the Family and Community Services Board


Community Involvement:

  • Served four years on the Ponoka Minor Hockey Board
  • Directed theatrical productions (plays and musicals) in all of the schools at which he taught
  • Director of musicals for the Klaglahachie Fine Arts Society since 2012
  • Been jogging along Ponoka’s scenic trail system and its residential neighbourhoods for about 20 years
