Canada’s Largest Outdoor Professional Rodeo- The Ponoka Stampede
With humble beginnings in 1936, the Ponoka Stampede may have become a world-class event but it remains true to its historic roots. With authenticity derived from solid cowboy traditions and paired to a growing array of attractions and activities, the Ponoka Stampede continues to show visitors a little piece of the real west. Travel Alberta in conjunction with Global produced a video of the 72nd Annual Stampede showcasing how the illustrious legacy lives on (see below). As its popularity continues to grow, the Stampede recently garnered North American attention for its 76th Anniversary with the 2012 attendance of the Women’s Pro Rodeo Today television show. The resulting production was 3 Ponoka episodes that aired on the American Station RFD-TV. The videos clips highlight not only the Stampede festivities but also Ponoka’s Canada Day Celebrations and the Canadian Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.
