Fire Ban in Effect for the Town of Ponoka
Due to the lack of moisture, forecasted wind and ongoing extreme dry conditions, Ponoka County Regional Fire Services has announced a Fire Ban for the Town of Ponoka. The fire ban will take effect on Saturday, November 1.
The fire ban includes:
- No use of backyard firepits/rings;
- No use of wood or charcoal burning outdoor appliances;
- No open fires or burning barrels (in the industrial park only); and
- No fireworks. Please note the use of fireworks is prohibited in the Town of Ponoka, with the exception of approved special events that have the required permits and licences.
The use of propane and natural gas barbecues is still permitted at this time, although citizens are advised to use extreme caution when operating their barbecues.
The fire ban will remain in effect until further notice. The ban will be reviewed and changed as conditions improve.
