The Town of Ponoka encourages everyone to participate on our social media pages. 

Social media enables the Town to:

  • Inform citizens about municipal initiatives, programs and services;
  • Promote community events and programs;
  • Be a communication channel during an emergency;
  • Engage with online audiences; and
  • Improve the public’s accessibility to Town information.

Information posted on social media is done by authorized Town staff and is considered public information. 

If you have a question or service request for the Town of Ponoka, please:

  • Submit an online service request here. Just fill out the form and click submit; or 
  • Phone the Town Office at 403-783-4431, where staff can help fill out the form for you.

If you provide your email address, you will also receive a notification when your request has been completed. 

The Town of Ponoka treats public participation on social media the same way as traditional engagement. The Town of Ponoka values respectful dialogue, communication and participation from the public.

Comments posted to Town of Ponoka social media platforms are monitored. The Town of Ponoka reserves the right to remove comments, posts or content that contains any of the following:

  • Personal attacks; 
  • Defamation; 
  • Harassment; 
  • Spamming (including posting the same comment or comments that convey the same general message on multiple posts or social media platforms); 
  • Offensive content (including obscene language, sexual content, or content that promotes hatred); 
  • Aggressive or threatening behaviour; 
  • Promoting illegal activities; 
  • Promotion of commercial products or services; 
  • Disclosure of private or confidential information; 
  • Violating the legal ownership interest of another party; 
  • Political or partisan discourse related to provincial or federal politics or levels of government; and 
  • Off-topic posts that are not related to the subject of the forum or a particular posting. 

Please note that the Town of Ponoka is not responsible for the content of shared information or links posted to raise awareness of other organizations or events. These linkages do not constitute endorsements by the Town of Ponoka. 

Please be aware that by posting publicly, any other participants on social media may use your content beyond the control of the Town. 

Those who post content on any online channel administered by the Town of Ponoka give the Town permission to use this content including the right to copy, distribute, transmit, display, reproduce, edit, translate, reformat and incorporate into collective work.
