2021 Municipal Election – Unofficial Election Results for the Town of Ponoka

(October 18, 2021 – Ponoka, Alberta) The unofficial results for the Town of Ponoka 2021 Municipal Election have been tabulated and are listed below. Official results will be posted on the Town of Ponoka website at www.ponoka.ca on Friday, October 22 before 12 p.m.

The Office of Mayor has been acclaimed by Kevin Ferguson, who formally has served as a Ponoka Town Councillor for the past four years.

Voter Turnout

Approximately 1,632 voters cast ballots in the Town of Ponoka 2021 Municipal Election. The total number of eligible voters in the Town based on the 2016 Statistics Canada Census data is approximately 5,500. That equates to a voter turnout rate of about 30 per cent in the 2021 Municipal Election. Voter turnout in the 2017 Municipal Election in the Town of Ponoka was about 37 per cent.

Swearing In of New Council

The new Ponoka Town Council is scheduled to be officially sworn in at the next Town Council meeting on October 26 at 6 p.m. at the Ponoka Civic Centre. All meetings are being held online.

The public is welcome to observe this meeting online by registering by 12 Noon on the day of the meeting by phoning 403-783-4431 during office hours Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You will be provided with details on how to observe the meeting by telephone or an online audio link.
